The reigning German champions beat the Düsseldorfer EG 4:2 (2:0|0:0|2:2).In front of 4,387 spectators at the Olympic Ice Stadium, Ben Street, Andreas Eder, Trevor Parkes - each on the power play - and Maximilian Kastner scored the Munich goals.

Course of the game
After a contested opening phase, the Red Bulls quickly increased the tempo. The chances of the German champions increased. However, coach Toni Söderholm's team needed its power play units for the first goal of the anniversary season. In overtime, Street scored the 1:0 (11th) after brilliant preliminary work by Kastner and thus opened the new season. A few seconds later the next penalty - and again the Red Bulls struck. Eder was the scorer (12.). Düsseldorf also had its best chances with one more player on the ice, but Mathias Niederberger was not to be beaten in the first period.
In the middle period, the guests played more courageously. Munich was now challenged more often on defense, but could still rely on Niederberger. On the other side, the crossbar prevented the third Munich goal by Jonathon Blum (28th). Afterwards, both teams fought hard, but the score remained unchanged before the second break.
Düsseldorf wanted to score the next goal and started more actively, but Munich held the zero for the time being. Until Luis Üffing's goal in the 47th minute. Only three minutes later, Victor Svensson even marked the 2:2, but the Red Bulls had the perfect answer ready. Again, it was the strong power play that put the DEG in trouble. Parkes put his team back in the lead with a tap-in (55th). The guests tried it in the final phase with an additional field player, but the goal was scored by Kastner with a shot into the empty net (60.). The 4:2 was also the final score.
