The first leg between Red Bull München and Genève-Servette HC will take place on November 14/15, with the second leg on November 21 or 22.

Following the conclusion of the Champions League preliminary round, the top 16 teams were assigned to the knockout round according to their standings (1st vs. 16th, 2nd vs. 15th, etc.). Accordingly, the tenth-placed team from Munich will meet the seventh-placed team from Geneva. While it is already the eighth consecutive knockout round appearance for the German champions, the Swiss had to wait nine years until they too finally reached a playoff round again. Both teams will meet for the first time in the CHL.

"A super interesting duel. When the German and Swiss champions meet, it's always something special," explained Munich captain Patrick Hager. "Our fans can certainly look forward to two very nice games. Of course, we hope our team wins the series and we advance to the quarterfinals."

Game against Ingolstadt possible in quarterfinals

If they reach the quarterfinals, a rematch of last season's DEL final between Munich and Ingolstadt beckons for the Red Bulls in the European top flight.

To make this duel a reality, however, not only the Munich team must eliminate the Swiss champion, but Ingolstadt must also knock out the Swedish title holder, the Växjö Lakers. The third German representative Adler Mannheim will face Rapperswil-Jona Lakers in the CHL round of 16. The exact scheduling of all eighth-final encounters will be announced by the CHL in the next few days. In the Champions League playoffs, the eighth, quarter and semifinals (Nov. 14-Jan. 17) will be played with first and second legs. The final on February 20 will be decided in one match.
