Toni Söderholm before CHL start: "Will be exciting games"Kick-off weekend in the Czech Republic// CURRENTAhead of the first games in the Champions League, coach Toni Söderholm talked about the first matches and the new CHL rules.The official press conference for the CHL opener took place on Tuesday. All coaches of the 24 participating clubs as well as journalists from all over Europe were present. Söderholm also spoke about the upcoming games on the international stage.
Toni Söderholm, coach EHC Red Bull München: "It will be exciting games. I am proud that we are a part of it. I also think the new rules are exciting. There will be opportunities to score more goals as a result. My first impressions after the Red Bulls Salute are that they definitely bring a new element to the game."
First, CHL President Jörgen Lindgren and CHL CEO Martin Baumann had given a brief overview of the upcoming season. A panel of experts consisting of Gord Miller (TSN commentator), Tom Kowal (referee expert) and Tobias Salmelainen (CHL Sports Committee member) gave their views on the three major rule changes in the Champions League.
Red Bulls start in Czech Republic
Next weekend we start the new CHL season 2023/24 with a double-header in the Czech Republic. First, the Red Bulls are challenged against Vítkovice Ridera on September 1 at 6:30 p.m. . Just two days later, on September 3 (3:00 p.m.), we play the reigning Extraliga champions Oceláři Třinec.
CHL tickets for home games already available
After the away games in the Czech Republic, the first two duels in the top division in front of a home crowd are already scheduled for the following week. Tickets are already on sale for the games against Slovakian club HC Košice (September 8, 7:30 p.m.), the "derby" against the Austrian Sharks from HC Innsbruck (September 10, 4:30 p.m.) and the reunion with Finnish top club Lukko Rauma (October 10, 7:30 p.m.).
