Back on the ice! Summer group at skate campDaubner: "It's pure joy".// CURRENTIn temperatures of over 30 degrees, the Red Bulls made their comeback on the ice. At the skate camp at the Red Bull Ice Hockey Academy in Salzburg/Liefering, it was all about the most beautiful sport in the world again after a lot of athletic training.
Even if going to the ice rink seems to be a welcome cooling off at first in the current weather conditions, there will be no less sweating at the EHC Red Bull München skate camp. From June 20 to 23, our Munich summer training group will be challenged on the ice again for the first time since the championship in April.

"We also like to send the boys out onto the ice during summer training. In connection with the current athletic training, the focus here can then be placed more on technical things. We can work with the guys individually and in small groups," our new coach Toni Söderholm is pleased about the first units on the cool surface.
Daubner gushes about ice comeback
Most recently, the pros completed the first endurance block of summer training in Munich with an 80-kilometer bike ride around Lake Starnberg and an indoor soccer match. With the basic fitness gained, the focus is now increasingly on topics such as speed, coordination, technique and also playfulness.
The Red Bull Ice Hockey Academy in Salzburg provides the perfect conditions for this. Fitness rooms, soccer fields, table tennis tables, shared accommodation - and of course two ice surfaces to tackle. With various shooting, sprinting and change-of-direction exercises, small matches and the obligatory penalty shootout, the individual units are diversely designed by the coaching team to the delight of the players.
Die ersten Penaltys der neuen Saison
In any case, the skate camp is a highlight of the summer for many of our guys. Master defender Maximilian Daubner explains, "It was pure joy to get back on the ice. The sooner we can get back on it, the nicer it is. I always need my one or two sessions to know again where to put my foot and where the goal is. But then it's perfect that we're already allowed on the ice here in the summer."
Söderholm: "Are very satisfied"
One notices: Despite high summer the players direct their view already again fully focused on the new season. "We have hardly talked about the topic of motivation so far. We don't want to push the players too hard at this stage. But the guys who are here have already made the decision to still want to develop here anyway. This is the first and most important step," says coach Söderholm, pleased with the large group in Salzburg/Liefering.
Die ersten Übungen auf dem Eis
Many World Cup players and import players are still on vacation for regeneration or visiting their families back home. On July 29 and 30, all players will return and the team will be complete for the official start of training. Until then, all professionals have been provided with an individually tailored training plan.
So far, the team is making a good impression on our new coach. "We've been working with the guys for four or five weeks now, and there's already been a lot of movement. The group has grown together quickly, they're pushing each other and making sure everyone stays on track. Everyone here wants to earn ice time and you can build on that," says Söderholm and draws a first, positive interim conclusion: "We are very satisfied with the first weeks."
