Thursday, 19. September 2024 | Preview: Iserlohn Roosters host Red Bull München at the PENNY DEL
Here we go again! Red Bulls in Iserlohn for the start of the PENNY DEL// PREVIEWThe long wait is over, with the 2024/25 DEL season finally kicking off on Friday (7:30 p.m.) with EHC Red Bull München's away game at Iserlohn Roosters. Our latest signing, Taro Hirose, will be in the lineup.
"The anticipation is huge. The arena in Iserlohn will be on fire," says our coach Toni Söderholm ahead of the clash at the Seilersee. You can follow the game live on MagentaSport, Sportdeutschland.TV and in our blog.
Söderholm and his coaching team have analyzed the preparation. "We tested against strong teams. They were close duels. We played Powerplay and Penaltykilling and also without a goalkeeper. We played in all situations. That's important for the learning process," explains Söderholm. The 46-year-old Finn sees potential when it comes to finishing goals: "We can definitely be more efficient." The Red Bulls have been working on this over the past few days.

Söderholm: "Taro has a high field hockey IQ"
Dominik Bittner was not present. The defenseman will miss the start of the new season due to an upper-body injury. Trevor Parkes will even miss several months. The Red Bulls recently responded to the goal scorer's leg injury by signing Hirose.
The ex-NHL player will make his debut for our team in Iserlohn. Söderholm is happy about his new winger with the number 17: "Taro has a high field hockey IQ. His understanding of the game is very good. He knows in advance where the puck is going to be."

The dream of the playoffs
The Iserlohners start the new season with a lot of tailwind. Last season, the Roosters were stuck at the bottom of the table for a long time - sometimes by a wide margin. This was followed by a strong run, which ultimately resulted in a surprising 13th place and relegation under their own steam.
The Roosters want to take the momentum with them. The Iserlohners were able to keep their most important players - including German international Colin Ugbekile and the first forward line of Tyler Boland, Eric Cornel and Michael Dal Colle. New additions include forwards Jake Virtanen (Pinguins Bremerhaven) and Branden Troock (AIK Stockholm). Because the shake-up was moderate, the fans are dreaming of their first play-off appearance in four years.
