The Red Bulls got off to a dream start: DeSousa shot the puck into the corner after 54 seconds, Ortega increased the lead to 2:0 only a little later (5.). The Grizzlys until then with few actions in the offense, but the necessary efficiency. Laurin Braun deflected after six minutes unstoppable for Mathias Niederberger. In the final period, both teams initially looked for safety. An outnumber situation then played into the guests' hands: Spencer Machacek lurked in the slot and made it 2:2 (50th). The game continued with open sights, but no decision was to be made in the regular playing time.
In overtime, the Grizzlys had another power play early on, but the Red Bulls defended aggressively and struck soon after: captain Hager appeared free in front of Strahlmeier, kept his nerve and secured victory for Munich in Game 5 (64).
