New DEL attendance record – in part thanks to the Red Bulls
Thursday, 06. March 2025 | PENNY DEL and EHC Red Bull München celebrate record attendance
New DEL attendance record – in part thanks to the Red Bulls// CURRENTAt Thursday's press conference, the DEL announced new record numbers for German ice hockey - the number of spectators in the arenas and the number of viewers in front of the screens. A record season, in which the Red Bulls also played a major role.
Ice hockey in Germany continues to grow. After the attendance record in the past 2023/24 season, the German Ice Hockey League can report a new high and a significant increase this season.
PENNY DEL remains the spectator champion
After the 52. and final match day on Friday, more than 2.8 million fans will have come to the arenas. By way of comparison, a total of 2.61 million spectators attended the regular season last year. The average attendance per game has thus increased from around 7,160 to 7,750 for each game – an increase of around eight percent.
This means that the PENNY DEL remains the clear number one among Europe's top leagues in terms of spectator numbers. The gap to the second-placed Swiss National League, which attracts an average of 7,365 spectators per game, has been further extended.

Red Bulls have almost doubled attendance
The Red Bulls can take a great deal of the credit for the significant increase in attendance. Thanks to the new possibilities offered by the SAP Garden, we have almost doubled our own average attendance figure from 5,158 to 10,176 visitors per game. A total of 264,573 fans came to our new living room for the 26 games of the 2024/25 main round. Of course, this is also a new attendance record for us (previously 134,131). There is also already a huge rush for tickets for the playoff quarter-finals against Adler Mannheim. Although the exact dates will not be fixed until Friday, more than 10,000 tickets have already been sold for the two home games in SAP Garden.
TV numbers of the DEL have risen significantly
In addition to the numerous visitors to the respective venues across Germany, the DEL was also pleased with the new record numbers in front of the screens. As MagentaSport reported, the 20 million viewer mark was broken for the first time in the current season. This is also an enormous increase compared to the previous year – and great news for our sport.
