Final MVP, four-time German champion, World Cup runner-up: Kastner has had an impressive career since his debut for the Red Bulls in the 2014/2015 season. The former top talent is now a seasoned DEL professional with 430 appearances and at the same time a pillar in the German national ice hockey team.
First hat-trick without the limelight
On loan from our cooperation partner SC Riessersee, Kastner made his first short appearance for Munich on 18 December 2014 against the Hamburg Freezers. At that time, by the way, he met a certain Nico Krämmer, who has also been wearing the Red Bulls jersey since summer of this year. In the following 2015/2016 season, the attacker switched permanently to EHC Red Bull München.
In his second appearance of the season in September 2015, Kastner already attracted attention, scoring a goal in the 3:2 win against Wolfsburg and also registering an assist. He then had to wait a few years for his first DEL hat trick. On 1 April 2021, the father of a son scored three times against Krefeld. Nevertheless, he was not in the limelight, because his teammate Yasin Ehliz scored four goals in the same game.
"Of course I had to listen to a few comments in the dressing room," says Kastner. "One of them asked me if I had played at all. That's how they are, the dear colleagues," he adds with a smile. This year, the 30-year-old is already in his tenth season for the Red Bulls, taking into account his loan assignment, making him a perennial favourite in our team.
