There, the Red Bulls will face top Swiss clubs HC Davos and EV Zug.In the preparation phase for the upcoming 2024/25 season, the four-time German ice hockey champions will take part in an international invitational tournament. At the Lehner Cup in Sursee, Switzerland, the Munich team will first face HC Davos on Saturday, August 24, at 7:30 pm. With 31 national titles, the top club is the record champion in the Swiss National League.
On Sunday, August 25, coach Toni Söderholm's team will face EV Zug at 4:00 pm. The Swiss team won their second and third championship titles in the 2020/21 and 2021/22 seasons. The fourth participant - against whom the Red Bulls will not play in a direct duel - is the Czech first division team Motor České Budějovice.
The Lehner Cup is being held for the twelfth time this year. Each of the four teams will play two matches against each other. The winner of the tournament will be determined in the standings after all matches have been played.
Further preparation matches will be communicated in due course.
Red Bulls Salute on August 16 and 17
The Red Bulls are already starting the new season before the tournament in Switzerland. At the Red Bulls Salute on August 16 and 17 in Zell am See-Kaprun, fans of the four-time German champions will be able to cheer on the team on the ice for the first time.
In addition to Munich, Red Bull Salzburg, the Växjö Lakers and the ZSC Lions are also taking part in the Red Bulls Salute 2024.
