Season one after Reimer: Ice Tigers rely on talents
In addition to club legend Patrick Reimer, other key players such as Gregor MacLeod (Cologne) left the club. So the big question was: How will the Nuremberg team do this season? The answer after a quarter of the season: They have maintained their level despite the upheaval.
Among the winners so far this season are Elis Hede and Danjo Leonhardt. If the two youngsters continue as they have been, they will pulverize the scoring figures from their first DEL season. Based on his current point average, 22-year-old Hede can even dream of scoring 50 goals in the main round. That would put him ahead of his father Niklas, whose DEL best is 25 points. Hede Senior is, of course, well known to Munich fans - as a former player and as Director of Development at EHC Red Bull Munich.
The 21-year-old Leonhardt has also made a big leap forward. He just needs to score once more to equal the six goals he scored in his debut season. He will most likely manage that, though ideally not on Sunday.
