Iserlohn's intermediate sprint shocks the competition
At Christmas, the Iserlohn Roosters looked like a certain relegation candidate. At the time, they were nine points off the pace. The change of coach to Doug Shedden had had no effect. But shortly before the turn of the year, the Roosters flipped the switch.
With seven wins from eight games, they put their rivals in the relegation battle on alert. The Iserlohners were unable to maintain this form until the end, but the gap to penultimate place continued to shrink. More than two weeks ago, the time had finally come: after three and a half months at the bottom of the table, the Roosters left the relegation zone.
Top performer: Dal Colle shows potential
The upswing is closely linked to the performance explosion of Michael Dal Colle. The former NHL pro of the New York Islanders needed time to find his feet in Germany. But the number five pick from the 2014 draft is now living up to his potential. 20 points in his last 14 appearances are remarkable.
