Derby time at Oberwiesenfeld: Red Bulls welcome Ingolstadt
Thursday, 16. November 2023 | DEL preview: EHC Red Bull Munich hosts ERC Ingolstadt
Derby time at Oberwiesenfeld: Red Bulls welcome Ingolstadt// DEL - PRELIMINARY REPORTTwo days after their success on the European stage against Geneva, EHC Red Bull Munich continue their PENNY DEL campaign. On Friday (19:30 | LIVE on our blog), we welcome ERC Ingolstadt to the Olympia-Eisstadion.
The derby clash is also the clash between the two finalists from last season. The interest is huge. There are no more tickets available, which means: The Red Bulls report sold out!
Kastner: "Want to impose our game on the opponent"
Coach Toni Söderholm's team were beaten 2-0 in Ingolstadt in their first game of the season. The Red Bulls want to do better on Friday, but there can be no talk of revenge. "It doesn't matter whether we have unfinished business or not. We approach every game the same way and want to impose our game on the opponent," says our striker Maxi Kastner.
On Wednesday, in the 3:2 win against Geneva in the first Champions League round of 16, the Munich team managed to do that for almost the entire match. Kastner is convinced: "We can also perform like that against Ingolstadt."

ERC offense not yet running smoothly - despite Pietta
Our opponent was also in action in the CHL. On Tuesday, the ERC lost 4-1 to the Växjö Lakers in their own arena, with Daniel Pietta scoring the only goal. It was no surprise that the 36-year-old veteran scored. Pietta is having a good season and is the Panthers' top scorer in the DEL with 13 points in 18 games.
However, Pietta is "only" 42nd in the league, which also highlights one of Ingolstadt's problems: the runners-up are scoring too few goals. Only penultimate-placed Düsseldorf and bottom-placed Iserlohn were less successful. This is another reason why the Panthers are currently tenth in the table.

New national player a ray of hope
One of the bright spots at the ERC is Philipp Krauß. The 22-year-old forward has once again improved on his debut season. With ten points, he is the Panthers' fourth-best scorer. He is only two goals short of equaling his best score from the previous main season. The reward: Krauß was allowed to take part in the Germany Cup with the national team.
