// DEL - HIGHLIGHTS
Course of the game
The Red Bulls played lively forward and were rewarded for their good start in the fifth minute. Oswald finished off a remarkable combination with the opening goal (5th). The attack was initiated by Yasin Ehliz, who celebrated his 300th assist in his 700th DEL game. In the 13th minute, DEG goalkeeper Henrik Haukeland was beaten for the second time as Eisenschmid unpacked his hammer. Düsseldorf then got into the game better. A goal was now possible, but Mathias Niederberger made strong saves to keep the score at 2:0 going into the first break.
The Red Bulls were also more active in the middle period. After a flick from Konrad Abeltshauser, there were just centimetres to go before the next goal (22'). Niederberger had to be wide awake at the other end, as DEG also had opportunities. Munich remained more compelling. Ehliz had the best chance on a counter-attack while short-handed, but the puck just missed the post (34'). The second period ended goalless.
Munich started the final period with double superior numbers. Ortega scored a few seconds after the first penalty had expired to make it 3:0 (42'). The US-American's 100th DEL goal. The Red Bulls controlled the game in the minutes that followed before Philip Gogulla reduced the deficit to 1:3 (52'). The home side now had the wind at their backs and had chances to close the gap when they were outnumbered, but the strong Niederberger was the last man standing. The champions ultimately held on for a deserved 3:1 win.
