Gameplay
After an even start, Munich had the first phase of pressure, but a penalty time slowed down the league leader. Shortly after the penalty expired, Bernhard Ebner slammed the puck into the corner for 1:0 for Düsseldorf (10.). The Red Bulls then switched into attack mode, Henrik Haukeland was now frequently called upon. The DEG goalkeeper with strong actions and luck with the cabinet piece of Patrick Hager (15.), but in the 16th minute beaten for the first time: Blum finished a nice move to 1:1.
The Red Bulls continued to be aggressive in the middle period and played fast-paced ice hockey in the direction of Düsseldorf's goal, but Haukeland was the last stop. His counterpart Danny aus den Birken had to intervene less often and reacted brilliantly against Philip Gogulla (29.). An exciting duel. When Munich pressed the gas, it became tight for the DEG. Haukeland saved his team with saves as against Trevor Parkes (38th) and Austin Ortega (39th) - so it went into the second period break without further goals.
The final period mirrored the first 40 minutes: Munich pressed and created great opportunities, but Haukeland still stood in the way of the lead. The huge chance in the 55th minute, but Ortega did not hit the puck in front of the empty goal. Shortly afterwards, however, the bell rang: Maximilian Daubner provoked a rebound, which Eder pushed over the line to make it 2-1 (58th) - the late, but highly deserved winning goal for the Red Bulls.
