Not even two minutes had passed before the visitors took the lead thanks to a powerplay goal by Maximilian Kammerer. This was the start of a lively offensive spectacle. The Red Bulls answered promptly: DeSousa scored the equalizer (4th). Munich got better and better into the game and increased the pressure on the goal of the Sharks - with success. DeSousa added his second goal to give the Red Bulls the lead (14.). Ortega even added the 3:1 in the power play in the 19th minute.
This was the score going into the first intermission. In the second period, the Red Bulls continued to move forward and had many chances. The logical consequence: 4:1 through Ehliz with an onetimer (27th). The league leader continued to control the match. The Sharks were unable to break free. A game on one goal, but another goal should not fall in this period. 4:1 after 40 minutes.
In the final period, Munich initially dominated the action. But Cologne showed morale. David McIntyre reduced the score to 2:4 (49th) and gave the Haie hope again. Not for long, though, because Ortega made it 5:2 less than three minutes later with his second goal of the evening. Because Cologne came close again thanks to Nicholas Baptiste (54th), it got exciting again in the final phase. Until DeSousa initiated the 6:3 with a dream pass by captain Hager (57.), which marked the final score and at the same time the eleventh victory in a row of the Red Bulls.
