Course of the game
The Red Bulls impressed right from the start with consistent defensive work and also landed the first offensive punch with quick transition play: Eder slotted home in the third minute after Daubner's cross-field pass to make it 1:0. The four-time German champions then kept the pressure on. Around eleven minutes after the opening goal, DeSousa increased the lead to 2:0 after a long pass from Hirose, then Krämmer was allowed to celebrate the 3:0 for Munich and his 100th DEL goal after video evidence (16.). Both teams went into the dressing room after 20 minutes with this clear lead for the visitors.
After the break, Munich continued to concentrate and remained effective: Ehliz was set up perfectly in the 24th minute and scored from close range to make it 4:0. Coach Kaltenhauser's team's love of combination continued unabated. Daubner made it 5:0 in the 27th minute and DEG then changed their goalie, with Nikita Quapp replacing Henrik Haukeland. However, Quapp was unable to prevent DeSousa (39) from making it 6:0 for the Red Bulls at the break.
It was a similar picture in the final period: Munich continued to play briskly in front and scored their seventh goal of the evening through Hirose (46). The final goal was scored by Ehliz (56), who added his second goal alone in front of Quapp to make the final score 8:0.
